Sunday Tying Nights
We have scheduled the first few informal tying nights for this season. These nights are a great chance to get together to socialize and share new techniques or patterns. All are welcome to attend whether you tie or not. It is a good chance to meet members of the Red Cedar Fly Fishers and ask questions about tying file or our club in general. Please join us on December 3 and 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in room 273 in Glitner Hall on the MSU campus. If you have any questions, contact us at email@example.com.
Tying and Instruction Night a Success
Our combined tying and instruction night was attended by some MSUflygals and several members of the Red Cedar Fly Fishers. Instuction was provided by Red Cedar members Terry G. and Bob C. Tying of three flies was demonstrated and other members of the club aided new tiers. There was also time for everyone to tie flies on their own. Thanks Terry and Bob for the detailed instruction and patient presentation. Check back often see when our next tying will be.
Thanks to Ellison Brewery & Spirits
Our first tying night of the year took place at Ellison Brewery & Spirits. Although the night was cold, there was no snow so eight members gathered for tying, socializing and enjoying a few of Ellison’s good beer. Thanks to Ellison’s Keith and Sunny for taking good care of us and to the members who attended. For a good time some cold winter evening, plan on attending a few of our tying nights, whether you want to tie, learn to tie, learn new techniques or just socialize. Check back here for details about our next tying nights.
Ellison Brewery & Spirits Tying Night
Our tying night scheduled for December at Ellison had to be cancelled due to weather. We are working on rescheduling a tying night at Ellison in early January, 2017. Please check back here as we will post details when they are set.
Last tying night for 2016
Our last fly tying night for this year was held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Piazzano,s restaurant. We were honored to have two guests from the MSU flygals attend. One was an experienced tier and the other was new to tying. Members of the Red Cedar Fly Fishers worked with both Flygals, showing them some patterns that are usually productive on the Au Sable. We hope more Flygals will attend our tying nights when the resume after the new year.
Members of the Red Cedar Fly Fishers meet two Sundays a month during the winter months to tie flies, share information and techniques on tying and to socialize. All members and interested tiers are welcome. Check regularly in our newsletter for dates, time and location.
